PROGRAM 2023

Editorial

Dear children and young people, dear audience, dear partners and sponsors

The YOUNG DANCE festival celebrates its eighth edition under the motto "involved and exuberant" and promises an extraordinary and refreshing program with contributions from all over the world. As always, we highlight important current issues and look forward to discovering the world a little bit anew together with our audience. This year, the focus is in some ways on the future; we discover the potential that our diverse society holds to create a shared future. YOUNG DANCE Festival Zug 2023 thus sketches curious and imaginative perspectives, leaving plenty of room for young people to create freely, while strengthening a sense of togetherness with our human and natural environment.

For 13 days, the canton of Zug will become a creative hub. We take you on a journey around the world and you can choose how you want to participate. Performances will take place in theaters, city centers and libraries during school hours and on weekends. If you want to enjoy virtual experiences, you can enjoy films from the MotherEarth International series (ThisEgg) from the comfort of your couch. Zurich-based company The Field is even bringing their performance "Dance Delivery" to your home! If you want to train yourself in survival skills for the future, don't miss the wonderful production "Camping" (Reality Research Center). And if you want to get up close and personal with the people of Zukauft, the fascinating and successfully touring performance "Surge" by the Tom Dale Company at Theater Casino Zug is the place to be.

This year, for the first time, there will be a party at Galvanik with the collective "nameless Noise 4L™" for everyone over 16. Artist Moni Wespi will not only provide exciting visuals at the party, her fascinating series "Moving Portraits" can also be found at various locations around the city. If you feel like making a difference yourself and getting involved in the festival, join the YOUNG Impact Makers. The festival offers you and other young people space and support to be active at various locations during the festival weeks, to gain insights and to create your own contributions.
And last but not least: Our association YOUNG Festival has created a new platform YOCU (short for YOUNG CULTURE), where you can discover videos, podcasts and interviews around the festival.

Be invited to join us in making the whole canton dance!
