BETTER LATE THEN NEVER

The short film "Better Late Than Never" is an outstanding collaboration of artists from around the world, commissioned by the British Council for COP 27. To respond to the climate crisis, teams of artists and climate researchers (from the UK, Ukraine, Taiwan, Brazil, Argentina, India, Mexico, Indonesia, and Denmark) have translated the theme into their respective social and environmental backgrounds. The dance film is an excitingly rhythmic and inspiring collage of image, sound, body, nature and language that shows its audience the globe through the eyes of other young people. "Better Late Than Never" opens up space to ask big questions and inspires hope in relation to our future.

"Better Late Than Never" is the feature film of the "motherEarth International" project, which includes a whole series of new dance films and podcasts. It was made as a global collaboration commissioned by the British Council from ThisEgg (UK) to respond artistically to the climate and environmental crisis.

Location: Lakeside Gallery
Film screening and Gallery exhibition tour with Sussi Hodel
Duration: 60 min

We will watch the film "Better Late Than Never" together at Lakeside Galery, after which gallery owner Sussi Hodel will introduce us to the work "Only One World" by Swiss artist Severin Maerki. A small version of his project idea is exhibited in the gallery. The project consists of a huge, almost 5000-piece (!) sphere, which the artist wants to build in the city of Zug. The individual parts of this symbolic earth can be purchased and will be handed over piece by piece to people like you and me, who symbolically stand for the reconstruction of the earth.

"Better Late Than Never" as well as "Only One World" open up space to ask big questions and want to raise hopes about our future on this planet.
